Vera is the character the reader follows in the fourteenth chapter of my in-progress novel, and one of the older middle children of the Girl House.
Sometimes we all get swept up into excitement, especially when we're young and get to wear fancy things. Vera is no exception! Getting to prepare for a feast with your sisters is something to be happy and excited about, especially if it's your first time attending the feast.
Vera is like a flower that's already grown, but hasn't fully realized yet, and is still afraid of being blown away by the wind. At the same time, she still wants to enjoy herself. So, her internal voice tends to change depending on the topic, sometimes she can't wait to try on her new dress, but then she gets terrified at the mere idea of a ritual she has to take part in.
I think most people who have experienced some sort of stage fright can relate to her, and, at the end of the chapter, I just wanted to pat her head and tell her she's overthinking it. Hopefully, the audience will too!
Goodbye, lovelies!
