Lianne is the character the reader follows in the fifth chapter, and kicks off the next day in the novel.
Like her cousin Laura, is one of the three caretakers within the girl's orphanage, the Girl House, and while not being as maternal, she is still better suited in a teacher role to the girls. Although, most of their reactions are laced with annoyance. Remember all the times you made a comment to your parents, or simply told a joke, and they began lecturing you on some great morality? Yup, that would be her!
Nevertheless, even if she can be overbearing, preparing her babies for anything they may encounter in nature, from ghosts, to goblins, to trolls, to poisenous herbs, is her sworn duty. Nothing will stop her from keeping them safe and sound, in her own way.
She tries her best, even that best causes most of her little charges to roll their eyes and look at the clock hanging on the wall.
