Hello lovelies,
So, up until now, we've stayed fairly close to weapons which are detached from the body. They can be swung or trhown, acting as an additional limb essentially, but their function isn't to stay attached to the weilder itself. However, let's change that up a little with this one!
The knuckles are more than a weapon, they are an enhancer on close-combat attacks, and can make the difference between a bruised jaw, and a dislocated one.
So, let's look at this beast of an iron fister!
Material:
Typically, knuckles are made of steel, but they can also be made of wood wrapped in leather. While this lands a significantly less amount of damage, it still qualifies. Although, the steel knuckles will still be ones most commonly used.
They shape around the knicks of the hand, essentially acting as a reinforcement of the bones' bluntness when they land in the victim. Obviously they are exclusively used in close combat, since they are pretty useless otherwise. You could probably throw them, but with their shape, they wouldn't get very far.
Other than the shape around the knicks, they can have additional spikes, knobs, or even blades to maximize their potential. These can pretty personalised as well, depending on what the weilder's preferences are. Some may like using as much as their own raw power, while others prefer aesthetic weapons too much to not take advantage of them. This really depends on the character type.
Character Types:
A close combat fighter can be a lot of things, most notably a person who is used to fighting and not afraid to use all their strength. So, the types of characters who will most likely be involved with this weapon will have a direct, combative personality.
This can manifest itself as someone who has been through much conflict, or someone who simply likes the adrenaline that comes with close combat. This can be strengthened if they are seen to be wearing the knuckles on a daily basis, meaning they are prepared for a fight at all times.
That doesn't take away that these knuckles are often used as defensive tools as well. So, having a character who is used to being attacked, or who is living in a dangerous, precarious environment, and therefore uses knuckles, could be a viable plot point.
I hope this post was fun for you! It's certainly one which I wasn't planning on, but sometimes you just can't evade a good punch. (Yes, I know) So, hopefully it hasn't hit you all too hard.
Don't forget to subscribe!
Goodbye lovelies!
